On October 19th, in combination with the FAKUMA 2006, NETZSCH Analyzing & Testing hosted a Polymer Users Seminar entitled “Quality Control and Failure Analysis with Thermo-Analytical Measurement Techniques”. Nearly 20 participants from Germany, Austria and Switzerland found their way to the administrative building of the Friedrichshafen Convention Center for the seminar.

After a welcome address by the NETZSCH sales representative for Baden-Württemberg, Mr. Michael Grüner, a presentation by Dr. Albrecht Rager of BRUKER OPTIK GmbH in Ettlingen,
Germany focused on the high performance capabilities of TG-FTIR coupling. Ms. Steffi Müller of the Institute for Plastics Technology (IKT) in Stuttgart presented two detailed examples of failure analyses that could be successfully resolved with the help of Thermal Analysis. Finally, NETZSCH Applications Specialist Mr. Stephan Knappe addressed a variety of practice-relevant factors in-
fluencing DSC and TG measurement results.

The next Polymer Users Seminar will take place as part of the “K”-2007 in Düsseldorf, Germany.
