The analysis of material composition is twofold: one is the analysis of the chemical composition, which is achieved by FT-IR spectroscopy and can analyze all components including additives and residues. However, to understand the content of each component and their thermal stability, TG is required. The latest advances in TG and TG-FT-IR instrumentation will be presented including examples of plasticizer content in sporting goods and blend composition in household appliances.
