The performance of the sensor was proven during the run-time of the BMBF funded and AVK awarded project “OPTO-Light” involving the partners ARGES, AZL of RWTH Aachen University, BMW, Carl Zeiss Optotechnik, KraussMaffei Technologies, Precitec and Sensortherm. It was proven that this new sensor creates a benefit for the intelligent self-adapting process management based on the curing behavior aiming the compensation of deviations in semi-finished products and the reduction of cycle times and scrap. Through communication with the process control system, the new sensor technology controlled the process in such a way that an optimal adhesion of dissimilar materials in a cascaded process could be achieved.
