The mobile Ug value measurement device: Straightforward measurement of Ug values on insulating glass for the assessment of existing glaze inventories and for quality assurance.

Mounting

The instrument consists of two halves which can be easily mounted to both sides of the glazing by means of a suction pump. After mounting, the sensor heats the glazing on one side and detects the increase in temperature, ΔT, on the opposite side.

Measurement

The temporal course of the ΔT is analyzed and from this, the Ug value of the glazing is determined. Dynamic evaluation allows for typical measurement times of only a few minutes. With the newly developed Ug value measurement device, thermal insulation values can be determined for any commercially available double or triple glazing with Ug values of between 0.5 and 4 W/(m²K).
