The seminar is preferably aimed at users of NETZSCH thermal analysis devices (operators of other device manufacturers are also welcome).

For beginners and everyone who want to refresh and extend their DSC knowledge.

In this seminar, we would like to speak about the further possibilities of a DSC.

The week starts on Monday with practical tips and tricks for DSC measurements and continues on Tuesday with specific heat; on Wednesday, we will take a deeper look at Temperature Modulation and on Thursday, we will talk about advantages and disadvantages of oxidative-induction time/temperature and finally, we would like to guide you through the possible uses of a UV lamp.

In this seminar, we will provide practical basic tips and tricks regarding the aspects of evaluating a DSC curve.

In the meantime, many evaluation types have been integrated into the analysis software.

In many cases, however, proper evaluation of DSC measurements curves requires a certain amount of knowledge. Thereby, it’s important to recognize the difference between real sample events and events caused by measurements artefacts, because evaluation of such measurements curves still remains a certain subjective part of the user.

Knowledge of the thermophysical properties such as specific heat (cp) is becoming more and more important in the field of research and development of new products and materials. For an increasing number of applications, these properties have to be known over a certain temperature range.
For example, the results of finite element simulations for analysis of heat transfer problems strongly depend on the accurate knowledge of these thermophysical properties. Thus, the specific heat capacity represents an important contribution.

This online training session should help you understand the meaning and application of specific heat capacity.

The DSC is a standard method for the  quality control of raw materials or final products. The addition of a temperature modulation can provide even more information by separating certain overlapping effects. In this way, the effects can be properly quantified independently of each other.

This method is commonly applied for molding processes of carbon fiber-reinforced polymers. For these materials, the glass transition always overlaps with the curing effect, making a reliable evaluation of both effects by standard DSC nearly impossible.

The Oxidative-Induction Time or Temperature measurement can help you by investigating the stabilization of your material ‒ no matter if it concerns failure analysis or the development of new compound.

This online training session is intended for DSC Users who are interested in performing measurements with the Photo-DSC. The seminar imparts information about the technical setup for DSC measurements with a UV device, the creation of measurement programs and evaluation of these measurements with the aid of the Proteus® Analysis.
