Transferring Real Operating Conditions from Practice into the Laboratory Using the DMA GABO EPLEXOR®

During operation, technical elastomeric products are subjected to different loads. The static load is constant over time and often corresponds to the own weight. The dynamic load is either externally imposed (passive) or defined by a drive (active) and is a function of time.
Transferring the real operating conditions from practice into the laboratory is associated with at least one major restriction. It is absolutely mandatory in tension, compression and bending load tests for the static pre-load to be larger than the dynamic load. This restriction is due to the fact that a tensile sample can buckle under alternating tensile loads if the dynamic load amplitude exceeds the static load amplitude. Alternating compression loads result in a temporary loss of contact between the sample and the sample holder. Correct testing free of artefacts is not possible in this case. But, for some applications such as rubber conveyor belts, drive belts or rubber-metal bearings, the normal use is marked by a static pre-load smaller than the actual dynamic load.
In this webinar, a short introduction to the method of high-force DMA with the DMA GABO EPLEXOR® system and its versatile adjustment options will be given. If required, the restriction that the dynamic load should be smaller than the static pre-load can be removed. So, it will be possible to exactly simulate the load situation of the respective application.
