The mobile Ug value measurement device

The mobile Ug value measurement device: Straightforward measurement of Ug values on insulating glass for the assessment of existing glaze inventories and for quality assurance.

Advantages in measuring the Ug value:

  • Extremely easy handling
... via mounting to the glazing by means of a suction pump
  • Very short measurement times
... of only 10 to 15 minutes for determining the Ug value
  • Multiple measurements per day
... thanks to very short rest intervals of only about 10 minutes
  • Simultaneous measurement and evaluation
... allows results to be displayed immediately following measurement
  • Wireless signal transmission
    ... via WLAN
  • Can be validated by the user at any time
... by means of the included validation standard
  • Easy transport
    ... in a robust hard-shell case
  • Measurement in any position
... via integrated angle display and incline-dependent convection correction

Key Technical Data

(subject to change)

The instrument consists of two halves which can be easily mounted to both sides of the glazing by means of a suction pump. After mounting, the sensor heats the glazing on one side and detects the increase in temperature, ΔT, on the opposite side.

The temporal course of the ΔT is analyzed and from this, the Ug value of the glazing is determined. Dynamic evaluation allows for typical measurement times of only a few minutes. With the newly developed Ug value measurement device, thermal insulation values can be determined for any commercially available double or triple glazing with Ug values of between 0.5 and 4 W/(m²K).

  • Measuring tolerance for Ug < 1.0 W/(m²K)
    +-0.1 W/(m²K)
  • Measuring tolerance for Ug > 1.0 W/(m²K)
  • Measurement time
    10 to 15 minutes
  • Operating temperature range
    -10°C to 60°C
  • Reproducibility at Ug < 1.0 W/(m²K)
    +-0.1 W/(m²K)
  • Reproducibility at Ug > 1.0 W/(m²K)
  • Temperature range (heating element)
    RT to 150°C
